Lou Paganos family has been making candy for over 100 years.
But it all started with an almond.

Our story takes us back to a quaint family run bakery on Taylor and Halsted street in Chicago Illinois.

Founded in 1908 by Italian immigrants, it specialized in baked goods and was known for its wedding cakes and cookies,

but that all changed with the growing popularity of its sugar-coated almonds, affectionately known as "confetti.

The success and demand of that one little candy led to the formation of the world famous Ferrara Candy Company.

At its helm, were the Pagano, Ferrara, and Buffardi families, who took it from a small-time penny candy making business into the future when they introduced five and ten cent packaging in the 1940s.

The companies breakout success came in the following years as most of the candy produced by Hershey and Mars candy was being bought by the US government to supply the military. Ferrera was able to step up to the plate and provide candy for the people back home.

The rest is candy history, as we became a household name, and “gummied” our place in the hearts and childhoods of millions.

Now four generations of Pagano's later Lou is proud to introduce 1908 candy, bringing back the candy greats and new sweets to the world.
